I knew the family of John Henry Guy II in the mid '70's; while He and my dad were both stationed at Camp Pendleton. We lived right across the street from them and his son, John Henry Guy III became my best friend while we lived there. Our families became so close, i felt like i was a member of their family. It was during this time, on my 11th birthday that Michael, their youngest, was born. Sometimes, since my dad was a single parent, still young and 'going out' on an occasional Friday or Saturday night, the mom, Rose, wouid bring over generous portions of dinner leftovers... and the food was delicious!

I'm so blessed to have crossed paths with that family and keep many fond memories of my experiences with each of them.

I miss you guys!
:-}

One of you email me if you get this <3

Love ya

Dear friends:
I am a community college teacher in Dallas, Texas. I am having my students do family tree research for their research project this semester. My classes include about 100 students in 4 classes. I will show them your website as an inspiration of hard work, creativity, and dedication. It will be a great educational tool for me to use. The classes are racially mixed, but there are a large number of African American students. Your website is fabulous. God bless and keep up the good work!

 I was surfing the internet and had known a guy so I stopped in. I realized after a bit that his first name was guy;)I found myself drawn in by the story that is presented. It\'s a long one and I\'m thankful that you\'ve documented it. One sees the history channel and all but doesn\'t really get any history concerning the lives of blacks in the world and in the US. There is a lot of information here and I haven\'t read it all. I\'m impressed by the amount of research, time and writing skills have gone into this project.Would it be too much to compare the western slave trade to the Jewish holocaust?Perhaps it hasn\'t achieved the outrage as colors are different. I don\'t know but suspect.What does one do then on an individual basis?Stand up and exclaim even when scared as a white suburban liberal eye opened child that what is said is bull shit. I have stories and learned a lot moving rom Seattle to New Orleans in the earl seventies. I was and still am aghast and knew what happened on the bridge after Katrina. I\'m surprised that thirty years later it\'s still the same. Ya, I read the statistics and see the results and have real idea what it\'s all about.I really want the children to learn what Jesus was all about. In that maybe the next generation will be even better than this one.Thank you for telling the story so well.I hope this doesn\'t come across as a liberal guilt trip thing. It isn\'t. The liberal guilt trip thing is where we get a glimpse of the atrocities and care.

My aunt Pearlie Guy-Russell was a jewel, she was worth more than the most perfect diamond, she was more than a precious than rubies, she was more beautiful in and out than the fairest ruby.  She was a virtuous woman.  She loved hard, she worked hard, she gave hard to each and everyone of her family.  She truly lived life with an open hand.  She fed all that needed to be fed, she clothed all that needed to be clothed, she sheltered all that needed shelter.  She was a rock, she was a refuge, she was a virtuous woman.  She loved her children with a motherly love that goes beyond what words can say.  She loved and honored her father and her mother.  She watched over each one of her sisters and each one of her brothers.  She was the bestest grandmother that there ever was to her grandchildren.  She was more than an aunt, she was a second mother.  She was and will always be the greatest example of a woman of strength  that there are not enough words to describe.  She loved the Lord and continually praised and worshipped Him with all that she had.  She was truly a humble woman of great strength.  She was a patient woman but she was always on time, never late when you needed her.  Our family has truly been blessed to have been touched by such love, such greatness and such faithfulness.  And she would always at all times and in all times thank You and she would always let each and every one of us know that no matter what, no matter what the problem, no matter how the day went, that one thing that we could surely stand steadfast on is that GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE.

IN MEMORY OF MY MOTHER, LOUISE GUY:

There are not enough words to describe my memories Mother, but as each day passes, I will share them as much as possible. You were the greatest story-teller, history reciter, and history maker yourself. You shared so much of your life\'s history with me...thank you! Our spirits were truly kindred. As long as I have King Jesus, I know we will see each other again...what a great day that will be! Meantime, I miss and Love you much!!   Your loving daughter, Dawn

I have been researching my Guy family when I came across this website. My tree starts with William and Peggy Guy. Many of my ancestors lived in Sumpter County, Alabama. We also have relatives in Mississippi and Mobile, Alabama. I was wondering if our families were related.

I have been blessed to know my cousin Willie C. Guy-HInton.  A beautiful and gracious lady who loved life.  A woman of integrity and love for her family.  She taught me to reach for the stars and to live life to the fullest.  To be all that I could be, and to love our family with all I had.  Willie C. you will be missed.  And I am so glad that God blessed me to get close to you.  In the times that I had the chance to talk to her, I know that she ran this race with endurance and I know that her faith in the Lord was strong and that she was truly a child of God.
